Things are still pretty stressful at the moment but I do think January is finally starting to improve. The last 7 days have been pretty full on but it looks as though we’re finally going to catch a break. Meaning I can get on with some serious reading again. Something I’m looking forward to. Although, I’ve not been doing too badly so far this year. Not only am I on a good streak in terms of quality reads but I’m actually reading two books at a time. Slower than I’d like but I am reading something every day.
I’ll be honest, January hasn’t started quite like we’d wanted it to which has meant I’ve been pretty distracted this week. I have done some reading but not as much as I’d have liked. It’s taken me quite a while to get through my current read. I also didn’t manage to get my film review written this week but I did watch something. Next week might end up being a rare 5 post week but we’ll see how it goes.
Happy New Year everyone. Hopefully, you all had a lovely end to 2022 and are ready for 2023. I’ll be posting my end of year reading review tomorrow, so for now we’ll just do my usual weekly wrap-up. I’ve had a fairly successful week and have finished a few books before the end of the year. December still wasn’t my greatest month ever but it would have been worse.
So, Christmas went by in a lovely haze of food and family. I hope you all had equally good times whatever you were doing. I also hope that you were suitably spoilt by the people around you. Now that Christmas is officially done, we’re immediately down the business of wrapping up 2022 and setting goals for 2023. I’m madly trying to fit in a few more books before the year ends without making my short holiday extra stressful. I have to back to work for 1 day this week, which is ridiculous but possibly a good thing. It gets me out of the house and away from the food for a bit.
How is it possible that we’re only a week away from Christmas? Thankfully, I’m all sorted for the big day and I managed to get my gifts sorted early, so I just need to wrap them now. In theory, it should give me more time to get on top of my 2022 TBR. In practice, I’m not that good at getting on top of my TBR. Especially if this week is anything to go by. I picked up a short read hoping that I’d have finished it in time for my review on Friday. I’m still reading it now. I’ve only got a few more days at work, so I’ve already started winding down. I’m also trying really hard not to get infected be everyone in my office. It would be just my luck to get really sick in the week before Christmas.
We’re a third of the way through the month and I’ve pretty much finished my third book. It’s not necessarily a great rate but, if I can keep it, I might just be able to get beyond 100 books this year. I’m currently on about 93 so it’s definitely possible. I just need to keep motivated for the rest of December. Something that could be tricky considering how much is going on.
November was a bit of a whirlwind, right? It was the most stressed I’ve been at work and it definitely affected my reading habits. I can’t see this changing over December as I’m already feeling anxious about how much we’ve got a lot going on right now. We’re a team of 2 but management seems to think we can do the work of at least double that. It doesn’t help that I’ve not been able to use much of my remaining holiday, so I could really do with a break. A few days here and there doesn’t make much difference. I’d just love a week of rest, reading and relaxtion. Roll on the few days we have off over Christmas.
How have we nearly reached the end of November? Not only does Christmas feel very close but I don’t feel like I’ve read enough yet. I think I’m on about 6 books, which isn’t that bad. It’s just disappointing in comparison to previous months. It doesn’t help that I’ve been so busy at work that listening to audiobooks has become difficult. I don’t think December will be much better, so it will probably be a slow end to 2022.
Turns out that I did jinx myself last week. Having been on top for of my TBR for a while, my ability to concentrate has just been destroyed this week. I’ve not been sleeping very well and have been feeling so worn out. It doesn’t help that work is super stressful but we’re too busy for me to have time off. I do have a couple of days coming up next weekend but that’s probably it until Christmas. Hopefully, I can make it through without succumbing to the stress. Otherwise, I won’t be able to finish much before the end of the year.
Without wishing to jinx myself, November seems to be going okay so far. I’ve been steadily getting through books, some of which are actually from my TBR and not just new ones. I’ve also started getting ahead with my weekly posts. Last week, I finished everything over the weekend, which meant I was less stressed during the week. I don’t know why I’ve never tried to get this organised before. I have so much more time for activities. Admittedly, I didn’t spend enough of that extra time reading but that’s okay. I managed to read plenty this week without it.
