Sunday Rundown: That’s What She Read

How has your week been? What have you been reading?

I’m starting to sound like a broken record but I’m feeling awful again. I’ve spent most of the day just lying around in a funk. If the last few weeks are anything to go by, 2019 is going to be a shitty year health wise. At least I’ll have a good excuse to stay in bed reading though, right? I’ve got a bit of catching up to do this month. I’ve only completed one book and that was a 40 page short story. I know February is a shorter month but that’s pathetic even for me. I’m just so tired at the moment that I can’t stay awake long enough. And I’m so slow as well. I’m barely making it through a chapter on my breaks at work. Let’s hope March will fair better. After all, it is birthday month.

How has your week been? What have you been reading?

Oh god, what a weekend. Work has been so hectic, I still feel shit, and I’m over it. I’ve also done such a small amount of reading it’s very upsetting. I attempted to do some on my lunch break but I could barely keep my eyes open. I just need a day off. I’m getting to that emotional level of tiredness where I cry over dog videos. It’s not great. So, as soon as I’ve done this, I’m off to bed. I wanted to get a super early night but I, inevitably, got distracted. Need to work on that.

How has your week been? What have you been reading?

Not to be too melodramatic, today I’m dying. Okay, so I’m basically just recovering from a touch of the flu so have been in bed all weekend. I’ve been shaky, cold, coughing since Thursday. So, I was kind of delighted to be told that work wasn’t going to open today. I know it’s bad but it did mean I could spend the day in bed. I’m still coughing like I’ve got TB but, as you’ve got to find the positives somewhere, I’m hoping it’s making me sound sexier. In other news, on Friday I had the sheer joy of seeing Boyzone during their goodbye tour. We got my older sister tickets for her birthday but, as we were all fans back in the day, my twin and I were loving it just as much as she did. Singing 90s pop songs at the top of my voice wasn’t exactly the best thing to do with my cough but I don’t care. It was an amazing night.

How has your week been? What have you been reading?

So, last week was the first day of my mini holiday and this week it’s been my first day back. What a difference 7 days can make. I’m tired, annoyed, have a headache… basically it’s just shit. But it pays the bills. And, therefore, allows me to indulge my passion for book. Something that I’ve still not been allowing myself to do. This book buying ban is going better than it ever has before. Maybe I’ll be able to stop myself for most of the year and actually read the books I already own. For some of them, it’s about bloody time too!

How has your week been? What have you been reading?

You catch me on the first day of my mini holiday from work. I can tell you it’s a much-needed break as it’s been a tough few weeks lately. I just need a few days away, get my head sorted, and go back with a different attitude. That attitude being to ignore all of the toxic and stress inducing parts of my job and just do what’s best for me. 2019 is the year we should all start getting rid of the negative things from our lives. Whether that’s people, responsibilities, or bigger things. Also, guilt is a good thing to get rid of. In relation to this blog, the guilt of not reading. I’ve done quite badly this week and, probably, won’t finish my current read for Wednesday. Normally, I’d be rushing out trying to get something finished because I’ve got a busy week. 2019 me? I’m just going to go with the flow. I’ll try to read but if I have to post some nonsense on Wednesday I will. And I won’t give a flying fuck about it… okay I will but some things never change.

So how has your week been? What have you been reading?

It feels like ages since I last wrote a rundown… almost like it was last year. Badum tish! Be aware that I do hate myself for that. But it does feel like a really long time since my last rundown. Last week was just a nightmare and then I ended up planning so many posts for New Year’s Eve that it seemed stupid writing a rundown anyway. I don’t think you missed out on much. I was still reading Normal People at the time and probably hadn’t watched anything fun on Netflix. So it would have been a waste of time anyway… just like this week’s.

So how has your week been? What have you been reading?

I’ve just got back from seeing my friend where we went to see Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. I’ll definitely reviewing it after Christmas but, it’s safe to say, it’s my new favourite Spider-Man film ever. Not that it was exactly a difficult choice considering the third Toby Maguire film and the slightly dodgy Andrew Garfield ones. It’s set me off in a really good mood, which is useful because I’m working tomorrow and I imagine it’s going to be a shit day. Part of me loves working Christmas Eve because you can’t help but feel festive. Everyone who is working is in a pretty good mood and I get to sing Christmas songs without pissing them off… too much anyway. But, on the other hand, it’s always super busy and disorganised. I’ve already planned my evening to involve bed, Elf, and loads of chocolate. So, that’ll get me through.

So how has your week been? What have you been reading?

You know that feeling when you’re pretty sure that you’ve bought all of your Christmas presents and then you remember you still have a lot to buy? That happened to me the other day. I was so smug but I’ve still got a few biggies to sort out. I’ll get it done but it’s a kick in the teeth considering how great I felt. I got my work secret Santa present sorted the day I picked the name out and I’m so happy with it. So happy, in fact, that I’ve been finding presents for other people to give to their picks too. I’m a bloody present buying machine! And, considering how many presents I’ve bought for myself this year, I should know how good I am at picking gifts out.

So how has your week been? What have you been reading?

How have we only got 15 sleeps until Christmas? Where has all the time gone? I’ve got my work Christmas party tomorrow, which means I’ll get nothing done on Tuesday. I imagine there’ll be a lot of lying in bed and feeling old. So, my life normally but with added nausea and a headache. I do tend to get a bit over excited at these kind of things and am guilty of the dodgiest dancing ever. Something that I had to avoid on Friday when I went out with the guys I’m doing work experience with, so I went home early. I had a really great time but I definitely don’t think they’re ready to see Christmas party Laura. A girl who leaves a line of empty shot glasses in her wake and has the dad-est dance moves imaginable. I don’t know what it is about Christmas (apart from the wine, gin, tequila etc) that makes me think I have rhythm but, inevitably, I’m willing to try to prove that it’s there somewhere. How do people know how to dance? Is there a tutorial I can watch? A WikiHow? I just need help guys!

So how has your week been? What have you been reading?

This week’s kind of passed me by in a bit of a blur. I genuinely don’t know where the time has gone. Although, I guess this week I’ve sort of been distracted by my anger about The Crimes of Grindelwald. Sometimes, after I post things here, I suddenly remember that I’m 30 and should probably not give as much of a shit. I have moments of intense self-awareness that I’m getting super angry about a kid’s film all about magical creatures and stuff. There’s definitely better things I can spend my time worrying about. That, maybe, if I spent the time I’d wasted on that doing something with purpose I wouldn’t now be in a job I hate, single, and living with my parents. But, on the other hand, it was a really annoying film.
