Author: Murdocal

Who is Murdocal? A casual critic who is a little bit too obsessed with pop culture. A young woman who swears and rants much more than she knows she should whilst trying to make her way in an adult world she isn't prepared for. A not as recent as she'd like literature graduate who, between job applications and subsequent rejections, has turned to the internet to fight the boredom and review the shit out of everything. "Maybe, just maybe, I'm the faller. Every family has someone who falls, who doesn't make the grade, who stumbles, who life trips up. Maybe I'm our faller."

Thanks to The Simpsons I'll always read The Shinning instead of The Shining. It's just a bit more fun. I've not read Doctor Sleep yet or seen the film. I'm not sure it's really for me. 📚 #bookreadhappyhour - day 7 📚 #books #bookstagram #bookworm #reading #booklover #read #bibliophile #booknerd #bookish #instabook #bookaddict #igreads #bookphotography #bookstagramfeature #instabooks #reader #booklove #cosyreads #hygge #bookreviews #bookreview #raw_flatlay #raw_books #christmas #christmasreads #stephenking #theshining
QUESTION: What was the last book you read? I enjoyed the first part of The Wall but I ended up being disappointed. It just didn't go deep enough into the word Lanchester had created. I would have been happy to stay on the Wall. Seeing the tension grow as the days dragged on. That was the concept I was excited about. 📚 #bookreadhappyhour - day 6. Interesting job you guys have... 📚 #books #bookstagram #bookworm #reading #booklover #read #bibliophile #booknerd #bookish #instabook #bookaddict #igreads #bookphotography #bookstagramfeature #instabooks #reader #booklove #cosyreads #hygge #bookreviews #bookreview #raw_flatlay #raw_books #christmas #christmasreads
QUESTION: Who is the greatest literary detective? In crime fiction there is a huge divide between being a genius and being nice. Sherlock Holmes and Hercule Poirot are two of the greatest fictional detectives of all time. Would you want to he friends with them? Not necessarily. I mean even their authors ended up disliking them. 📚 #bookreadhappyhour - day 5. Unlikable characters you can't help but love 📚 #books #bookstagram #bookworm #reading #booklover #read #bibliophile #booknerd #bookish #instabook #bookaddict #igreads #bookphotography #bookstagramfeature #instabooks #reader #booklove #cosyreads #hygge #bookreviews #bookreview #raw_flatlay #raw_books #christmas #christmasreads #penguinbooks
Being a Harry Potter fan as the books were being written was an odd thing. You start off at exactly the right age but, inevitably, you grow up quicker then the characters. It changed how I saw the books and how I see them now. It's a really complex relationship. I love them but there are things about the fandom that I can't cope with. 📚 #bookreadhappyhour - day 4. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. 📚 #books #bookstagram #bookworm #reading #booklover #read #bibliophile #booknerd #bookish #instabook #bookaddict #igreads #bookphotography #bookstagramfeature #instabooks #reader #booklove #cosyreads #hygge #bookreviews #bookreview #raw_flatlay #raw_books #christmas #christmasreads #harrypotter #harrypotterandthephilosophersstone
QUESTION: What was the last book that you bought? I couldn't resist this Penguin Book of Christmas Stories. It's the kind of cover that makes you want to curl up by a fire with a mug of mulled wine. 📚 #bookreadhappyhour - day 3. 📚 #books #bookstagram #bookworm #reading #booklover #read #bibliophile #booknerd #bookish #instabook #bookaddict #igreads #bookphotography #bookstagramfeature #instabooks #reader #booklove #cosyreads #hygge #bookreviews #bookreview #raw_flatlay #raw_books #christmas #christmasreads #penguinbooks
QUESTION: Who is dreaming of a white Christmas? I know everyone complains but I love a bit of snow. And it's not as if the trains could get much worse than they already are. So I say bring it on. I want to build a snowman. 📚 #bookreadhappyhour - day 2. Weather on the cover. 📚 #books #bookstagram #bookworm #reading #booklover #read #bibliophile #booknerd #bookish #instabook #bookaddict #igreads #bookphotography #bookstagramfeature #instabooks #reader #booklove #cosyreads #hygge #bookreviews #bookreview #raw_flatlay #raw_books #christmas #christmasreads
QUESTION: what are you reading in December? It's the first day of advent which means we've only got 1 month left of 2019. Time to get on with reading those books we want to get finished this year. I like to try and read Christmas related books at this time of year. I say try because it never normally works. I'm not good at sticking to TBR lists. 📚 #bookreadhappyhour - day 1. #tbr 📚 #books #bookstagram #bookworm #reading #booklover #read #bibliophile #booknerd #bookish #instabook #bookaddict #igreads #bookphotography #bookstagramfeature #instabooks #reader #booklove #cosyreads #hygge #bookreviews #bookreview #raw_flatlay #raw_books #christmas #christmasreads
QUESTION: How was your reading this month? I had a very busy morning so am super late posting this. But I've got my round up for November. I managed to finish 7 (or I will by the end of the day.) 📚 • A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson 2⭐ • Great Godesses by Nikita Gill 3⭐ • Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson 4⭐ • Jeff Wayne's The War of the Worlds: The Musical Drama 5⭐ • The Diary of a Bookseller by Shaun Bythell 2⭐ • Coraline by Neil Gaiman 4⭐ • The Wall by John Lancaster (40 pages to go) 📚 #bookreadhappyhour - day 30 #wrapup 📚 #books #bookstagram #bookworm #reading #booklover #read #bibliophile #booknerd #bookish #instabook #bookaddict #igreads #bookphotography #bookstagramfeature #instabooks #reader #booklove #cosyreads #hygge #bookreviews #bookreview #raw_flatlay #raw_books
QUESTION: What are you hoping is in your Christmas stocking this year? I recently stumbled across a series of jigsaws based on Penguin Deluxe book cover designs. It included the gorgeous design on this copy of the Wizard of Oz. My personal favourite? The panoramic Sherlock Holmes. Hours of puzzle fun. 📚 #bookreadhappyhour - day 29 📚 #books #bookstagram #bookworm #reading #booklover #read #bibliophile #booknerd #bookish #instabook #bookaddict #igreads #bookphotography #bookstagramfeature #instabooks #reader #booklove #cosyreads #hygge #bookreviews #bookreview #raw_flatlay #raw_books
