What have you been reading this week?
What a week. Not only I am going through a slight crisis because I’m turning 35 today but I feel as though I’ve been working for ages. It’s only March so Christmas was really only a few weeks ago. It doesn’t stop me from looking ahead to my next holiday. I’ve got a few days off over Easter and I intend to use them wisely. By that, I mean, doing nothing but reading and sleeping. Possibly eating chocolate eggs but we’ll see. I’m just a little bitter because I wanted to book a day off this week so I could have a long weekend for my birthday. Unfortunately, someone got there first. I wasn’t planning on doing anything but it would have given me one extra day. Still, today should be fun. We’re having a family get-together to celebrate the big day.
Weekly Blog Posts
- BOOK REVIEW – Ariadne by Jennifer Saint
This book was everywhere when it came out and everyone went on and on about how good it was. So, I was pretty desperate to read it. I eventually got a copy a while ago but it has sat unread since. I also bought the audiobook but even that didn’t convince me. Until last month when I decided it was finally time. Would the hype be real or would it disappoint me? Read my review to find out.
- BOOK POST –February 2023 Reading Wrap-Up
It’s safe to say that 2023 hasn’t started as well as I’d have wanted but we’re getting back on track. I’m not sure I’m up to my best reading speed yet but I’m managing to read something every day. I was sure that I’d not read anything in February though because some books took ages to finish. How many did I manage? Read my post to see what I read last month.
- FILM REVIEW – Wakanda Forever
I really enjoyed Black Panther when I finally got around to watching it. So, I was excited to see what the sequel would be like. There was always going to be a lot of pressure to follow up the first film since it lost its leading man. Chadwick Boseman’s death was a massive blow to so many people around the world that this film needed to be careful about how it went forward. Did they manage to find the right balance between honouring his memory and moving forward? Find out by reading my review.

- The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood
Hurrah! I’ve finally finished this TikTok sensation and I’m so glad. It felt as though it was never going to happen. I was always wary going into this book because it’s not the genre for me. But I just had to know for sure. I had to try. My review will be up soon when I’ve had time to get my thoughts together.
- Carrie Soto is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid
After reading and loving Daisy Jones & The Six, I almost bought a copy of this book when it came out. Something stopped me. Probably because the idea of reading a book about tennis just didn’t do it for me. I’d seen the film Wimbledon and didn’t need that in book form. Recently, instead of committing to buying it, I requested it from my library app. It finally became available this week and I couldn’t stop myself from listening to it immediately. How did it go? Find out next week.

- Terry Pratchett: A Life With Footnotes by Rob Wilkins
Now that I’m not officially reading anything else, I’d like to give this some real attention again. I’m so excited to get into it and it’s been waiting for so long.
Book Haul
No purchases this week but I’m getting book vouchers for my birthday. Expect a few more incoming soon.

- Game of Thrones – I did it. I went back to the start. God, this show was so good at the beginning. Ned’s dead now and Jon is beyond the wall. There’s so much about to happen and I’m loving the nostalgia. It’s making me realise just how disappointing the ending really is. I’m not one of those people demanding it be remade but the last 2 seasons went off the rails a bit.
Congrats! Turning 35 means you’re almost middle aged and now the wisdom can begin to stew within you and you can hand out banal advice to anyone you want. I count that as a perk 😉

I’d probably need to acquire some wisdom first! 😆
