What have you been reading this week?
It’s been a busy week and a busy weekend. Not much time for reading, which is becoming a bit of a theme lately. I’m sure I’ll turn it around soon. Although, I’m not too bothered as this year wasn’t supposed to be about quantity but about getting through my TBR. I’ve been reading longer books so my numbers are obviously going to go down a bit. February won’t be my best month ever but I’ve managed to cross a few off my list. Some of them have been there for a while.
Weekly Blog Posts
- BOOK REVIEW – Five Survive by Holly Jackson
I wasn’t exactly a huge fan of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, so I wasn’t rushing out to buy more of Holly Jackson’s book. This one sounded too good to miss. 6 people are trapped in an RV in the middle of nowhere and a sniper starts shooting at them? An unmissable premise. Could it help change my mind about the author? Find out by reading my review.
- FILM REVIEW – Strange World
What’s this? A Disney film starring Jake Gyllenhaal? How had I not heard about this? Probably because Disney buried it for some reason. Could that reason possibly be something to do with the first openly gay character in the company’s history? I can’t say for sure. What I can say is how much I liked or disliked the film. Read my review to see which way I went.
- BOOK REVIEW – Litle Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng
This is one of those books that I’ve had on my shelf for a while now. I loved Celeste Ng’s debut novel and was excited to see her second book. As always, I didn’t pick it up immediately and it ended up being forgotten about. Until this week when I listened to it at work. Was it as good as her first one? Find out by reading my review.

- Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng
I finally had some time to listen to something at work this week, so I decided to get this book crossed off my TBR. It was a pretty good book to listen to and certainly kept me engaged. Nothing like a bit of a mystery to keep you going.
- Ms Ice Sandwich by Mieko Kawakami
For such a short book, this sure took me a while to get through. I bought this on a whim last year and intended to read it as soon as possible. Something that is becoming a huge trend for me. I finally decided it was time. Mostly because I needed to sneak in a short book before the week was over.
Currently Reading
- Terry Pratchett: A Life With Footnotes by Rob Wilkins
I’ve been reading so many books at once that I haven’t made much progress with this yet but I will. I’m looking forward to reading more about Pratchett’s life.
- The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood
I’m making slow progress. It’s not that I hate it but it was never going to be my thing. I’m just not a romance girl and the whole fake dating premise just seems silly to me.
Book Haul
I’ve been good again this week and have not bought anything. Hopefully, I can keep this up. I’ve got a few pre-orders coming out soon and I’m not reading quickly enough to allow it.

- Taskmaster – I decided to rewatch the latest season of this show because I’ve been so tired lately. I just wasn’t in a position to start anything new. So, back to an old favourite.
