Sunday Rundown

What have you been reading this week?

I think this week has been better than the last few but I’m weirdly tired. I’ve booked put in some holiday at work but it’s not until Easter, so I have a bit of a wait. Wondering if I should cave and just take some time off in March too. I’d love to just not worry about getting up every day and get through some more of my TBR. I haven’t done as well as I’d have liked this week with reading. After finishing my last read in 2 days, I’ve gone back to being pretty slow and distracted. It’s the tiredness. My plan is to go to sleep at reasonable times next week. Of course, I’m saying this as I start writing this post at 23:27 on Saturday night. I’m never going to change.

Weekly Blog Posts

  • BOOK REVIEWTyger by S.F. Said

Another reason that I’m not feeling motivated to read at the moment is that I’m still behind on my reviews. I still had books from February to write about. Starting with this beauty. After Foyles named it their Children’s Book of 2022, I finally started paying attention to it and decided I had to buy it. Would it live up to the hype? Find out by reading my review.

  • BOOK REVIEWThis Is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone

Talking about hyped books, this is one that I’d had my eye on for ages and really wanted to read. I’d only ever heard great things about it. It sounded like it would be my kind of thing. It was short. What could go wrong? Turns out a lot. Read my review and see what happened.

  • FILM REVIEW – Bank of Dave

Another Netflix original film that I had zero expectations for but was short enough to fit around my schedule. I can’t say that this was the most inspiring thing I’ve ever seen but it did give me the chance to enjoy Rory Kinnear in something. He’s such a fantastic actor. Does this film do him justice? Find out by reading my review.

Just Read

  • Five Survive by Holly Jackson

I started listening to this last week and finished it in a couple days when I was working. I’d already bought a copy but it came up on my library app. I thought I might as well make it easy for myself.

Currently Reading

  • Terry Pratchett: A Life With Footnotes by Rob Wilkins

I was lucky enough to get a free copy of this a while ago and it finally felt like a good time to start reading it. I love Terry Pratchett and I’m really looking forward to this one.

  • The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood

This made it onto my February TBR because I decided I needed more Romance in my life. I’m suspicious of anything that is described as a Tik To sensation but I’m going in with an open mind.

Book Haul

I know I’ve been banging on about being good this year but I found a deal that let me buy 2 books for less than the price of 1. How could I not? The books were:

  • Elektra by Jennifer Saint
  • Storyland by Amy Jeffs

Recently Watched

  • TV:
    • Question Team – As some of my most recent 5-star books have been written by Richard Ayoade, it should come as no surprise that I enjoy his TV show on Dave. I’ve been catching up with the latest series and loving it.
