What have you been reading this week?
It’s November, so I’m feeling much more inclined to stay inside reading at the moment. I need to spend this month getting back on track with all of my ARCs and books I’ve been sent. I also want to get into as much crime fiction as possible because it’s that time of year. I’m hoping to get ahead with my posts, which should give me more time for reading during the week. I say should but we all know that my plans very rarely work out as I intend them to.
Weekly Blog Posts
- BOOKISH POST – October 2022 Reading Wrap-Up
The last few months didn’t go as I’d planned and I’d assumed that October would have been the same. In the end, I was surprised by how much I’d read. Especially as I knew that I hadn’t managed to read all of the books I set aside for the month. Check out my post to see what I did read.
- FILM REVIEW – The Curse of Bridge Hollow
I wanted to watch something Halloween-appropriate for my review this week but I’m a bit of a wimp. So, the new Netflix comedy film seemed like the best way to do it. I wasn’t expecting much but I hoped it would be entertaining enough. Find out if it was by reading my review.
- BOOK REVIEW – Long Live The Pumpkin Queen by Shea Ernshaw
As soon as I saw this one, I knew I wanted to read it. Not only was it perfect for Halloween but I’m a big fan of The Nightmare Before Christmas. I liked the sound of it so much but I’m not a massive YA fan. I went into it hopeful but ready for it to disappoint. Check out my review to see how it went.
Just Read
- The Dutch House by Ann Patchett
I finished this one just before the end of October. I definitely wasn’t expecting to read this in October but I’m glad that I did. It was such an interesting read. Especially as I’d mainly bought the book because it was so beautiful.
- Redhead by the Side of the Road by Anne Tyler
Another audiobook and one of two Ann Tyler books that I borrowed from the library. After reading French Braid, I knew that I wanted to read more of her books this year. So, I found two that were available and went for them.
- The Book No One Wanted To Read by Richard Ayoade
I love Richard Ayoade so obviously I wanted to read his kid’s book. It was never going to be my longest read of the month but it was certainly a lot of fun.
Currently Reading
- Clock Dance by Anne Tyler
A second Anne Tyler book to start the month off. I didn’t get as far with this one last week because of meetings at work. Hopefully, I’ll finish it on Monday because I have another audiobook ready to go.
Book Haul
I don’t think I’ve bought anything new this week but my copy of The Book That Nobody Wanted To Read finally turned up.
Recently Watched
- TV:
- Taskmaster – I’ve not watched as much TV this week. I’ve had other things to do. Still, I have managed to fit in a few more episodes of this series. Still great.
Do arcs stress you out?

I do when I don’t keep on top of them. I feel guilty for not reading them quickly. Of course, it’s my own fault. If I stopped buying new books as well then it would be easier.

I gave up on them for multiple reasons, but reading the same thing as everybody else in my blogging circle was a big one. I hate when I see 5+ reviews of the same book in a week’s period

It’s a good point. I feel like that on Instagram. You can tell when arcs are being sent out because you see the same book on every photo of your feed. It gets boring.
