What have you been reading this week?
We’re a bit behind schedule this week because I’ve had a busy couple of days. A busy couple of days without much reading. Although, I did manage to spend a few hours finishing my current read today. I’ve also snuck in a couple of audiobooks at work, so I’m not feeling too bad.
Weekly Blog Posts
- BOOK REVIEW – Bear by Marian Engel
This is a controversial book and one that I wasn’t sure about. I was really excited to read it but knew there was every chance I would hate it. I was worried that I wouldn’t finish it in time for our book club meeting on Wednesday but I finished the whole thing last Sunday. Check out my review to see what I thought.
- FILM REVIEW – Rosaline
A new film inspired by Romeo and Juliet? Not normally the kind of thing that I’d be rushing to check out but I knew I wanted to see how this went. I was sure it would be a little cringe but it might offer something interesting? I dislike the original play so maybe it could even change my mind about it? Find out if it did by reading my review.
- BOOK REVIEW – The Lamplighters by Emma Stonex
I borrowed this from the library a little while ago and decided it was finally time to listen to it. I’d heard good things about it and was promised a creepy thriller perfect for Halloween. Check out my review to see how it went.
- Bear by Marian Engel
I spent most of last Sunday just reading this book in the hopes that I would finish by Wednesday. I became so engrossed that I managed it in one sitting. Yes, it’s only a short book but I also really wanted to keep going. It was a really unforgettable read and we have a really interesting chat about it.
- The Lamplighters by Emma Stonex
An audiobook that I listened to at work this week. I’m not sure the audiobook was the right way to read it because I kept getting forgetting who was talking. I don’t think it was the only reason I didn’t like it but maybe the physical book was the right way to go?
- Long Live The Pumpkin Queen by Shea Earnshaw
I started reading this once I’d finished Bear but it was slow going. It wasn’t until today that I really put any effort into reading. I managed to finish it this afternoon though, so it’s another one to cross off my Halloween TBR.
- The Dutch House by Ann Patchett
I’ve had the hardback of this for a while and an audiobook version for slightly less time. I decided to finally start it last week. I’ve got a bit more to go but I should finish it before the end of the month.
I caved a bought a copy of Madly, Deeply: The Diaries of Alan Rickman Book and The Satsuma Complex by Bob Mortimer this week. I was going to get them eventually and there was an offer on at WH Smith.
- Taskmaster – I’ve not watched as much TV this week. I’ve had other things to do. Still, I have managed to fit in a few more episodes of this series. Still great.
