Sunday Rundown

What have you been reading this week?

It feels like every single rundown starts with me bemoaning the fact that I haven’t been reading enough. I’d love to say that this week was different but it really isn’t. I was rushing to finish everything again because I just wasn’t concentrating on reading. I’m hoping to do better next week but that’s my plan every week at this point.

Weekly Blog Posts

  • SERIES REVIEW – The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

Since this series ended last week, I’ve read so many headlines that absolutely rip it apart. I know it’s a series by Amazon and we should always be a bit wary of Jeffrey. But does it really deserve all of that hate? I’d watched the whole series and decided I would add my opinion to the mix. Check out my review to see what I thought.

  • BOOK REVIEW – Matt Millz by Harry Hill

I really appreciate Harry Hill’s sense of humour. He’s so silly and I respond to that. So, I was excited to discover that he has written a series of children’s books. Not only that but a series that’s all about stand-up comedy. Would it be as good as I imagined? Find out by reading my review.

  • BOOK REVIEW – Following Frankenstein by Catherine Bruton

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley is one of my favourite books. I’ve read it so many times. So, I’m always interested in how other writers have been inspired by the text. The latest book that I’ve come across was this children’s book that attempts to tell us what happens afterwards. I had to check it out. Check out my review to see how it went.

Just Read

  • Matt Millz by Harry Hill

Another quick audiobook that I found on my library app. I didn’t know this book existed until this week but I’m glad I found it. This is such a great book just for the way it introduces readers to great British stand-ups. It’s an excellent resource for any budding young comics.

  • Following Frankenstein by Catherine Bruton

I knew that I wanted to get this finished this month because it was a way to embrace Frankenstein without reading it. I love Mary Shelley but I’ve read that book so much. I still need a bit of a break from it. This took way longer than a book this length should have but I’m glad it’s done.

Currently Reading

  • Bear by Marian Engel

This is the book we chose for this month’s book club and I’m looking forward to it. It sounds weird and funny. Although, I am a bit worried about finishing it in time. I have until Wednesday, which is more than enough time. Provided I can actually sit down and read it.

Book Haul

I bought a paperback copy of A Brief History of Seven Killings by Marlon James from a charity shop. I’ve had the hardback for ages but it’s an intimidating thing. So big. Hopefully, the paperback will help me get in the right mindset to tackle it.

    • Taskmaster – Series 6 and going strong. This is where the show really hits its groove and starts working really well. So many good contestants are about to turn up.
