What have you been reading this week?
How is the four day weekend almost over? It’s gone by so fast and I don’t feel like I’ve achieved anything. Next week is going to be such a long week. I’m really not looking forward to it. But I still have one day to enjoy. I should try and get some reading done but we all know that’s not going to happen. I’ll just get distracted and feel guilty about it. It’s tradition.
Weekly Blog Posts
- FILM REVIEW – Clifford The Big Red Dog (2021)
I knew this film wasn’t going to be for me. After all, it’s a CGI heavy film about a massive res dog. Also starring Jack Whitehall pretending to be American. So why did I watch it? Because I used to be obsessed with the TV show. I had to see what the film was like. Check out my review to see if it lived up to the cartoon.
- BOOKISH POST – May 2022 Reading Wrap-Up
May certainly wasn’t my best reading month. We got to the end and I knew I had some ground to make up. I’ve been consistently getting to around 8/9 books per month but by the last weekend I was on 5. Would I be able to fit some more in? See my post to see what I read last month.
- BITESIZE BOOK REVIEWS 12
I had a couple of short audiobooks to review this week but didn’t think I had a full review for either. They were both books I’ve been meaning to read for ages, so I knew I had to say something about them. Check out my reviews to find out which books I crossed off my list.
Just Read
- Holes by Louis Sachar
I wanted to read this when I was younger but never got round to it. So when it came up on an Audible daily deal I knew I had to finally buy a copy. Of course it took ages to get to it but at least I’ve done it now.
- Night Boat to Tangier by Kevin Barry
Another audiobook that I picked up in an Audible deal. It’s one that I’ve been meaning to get to but I never felt like I was in the mood. Was I in the mood now? Not really but it was, at least, short.
Currently Reading
- The Windsor Knot by S. J. Bennett
Started reading for the Jubilee weekend but, as I’ve already said, I’ve been rubbish. I’m making slow but steady progress. I’ll get there eventually.
- Fry’s Ties by Stephen Fry
Not really read much of this but I’m probably going to pick at this one. It feels like that kind of book.
- The Crooked Little Pieces by Sophia Lambton
Not sure that it counts as still reading when I haven’t thought about it in a while. I will get there. I’m looking forward to it but I just dropped the ball a bit.
Book Haul
I did buy a couple of books this week. I had to get the Platinum Jubilee edition of Alice in Wonderland because I have to buy every new edition of that book. Then I bought Heartstopper because I want to read it for Pride. That’s it though. None of my usual bank holiday book hauls.

- TV:
- HIMYM – What can I say? It’s good to have on in the background when I’m taking photos. Nothing too distracting.
- South Park – I found out that this was being removed from Prime this month so I had a sudden desire to rewatch some classic episodes. I wish I’d done it sooner.
