Sunday Rundown

What have you been reading this week?

April is upon us, which means a whole new TBR to get through. I have a lot of ARCs to get through this month. I really have to stop getting carried away on NetGalley. It’s leaving me in quite a pickle. So many books on top of my already huge TBR.

Weekly Blog Posts

  • FILM REVIEW – The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2021)

In the aftermath of the Oscars last weekend, it seems as though the winners have been forgotten in all the drama. I can’t say that I was convinced by Jessica Chastain’s win for this film but I guess she was one of the best things about it. Check out my review to find out what I didn’t like.

  • BOOK REVIEW – Bitesize Book Reviews 11

In order to get something to review this week I had to listen to a few short audiobooks at work. Which meant it was time for another group of bitesize reviews. Check out my post to see what I read.

  • BOOK POST – March 2022 Reading Wrap-Up

The end of the month can only mean one thing. It was time for another reading wrap-up. I wasn’t sure that I’d match my numbers for last month. Did I manage it? Check out my post to find out.

Just Read

  • Black Vodka by Deborah Levy

I listened to the audiobook of this short story collection because it was on Audible for free. I’m not normally a big fan of short stories but I figured I’d give it a try. There were some good ones but some less than good. Which is to be expected.

  • Camp Cacophony by Jessica Khoury

Another free audiobook on Audible. This is a prequel to a middle grade series. I figured it was worth checking it out to see if the rest of the books were worth a try. It was a sweet and fun book and I’m interested in the world. I’ll probably carry on.

  • Intimacy by Hanif Kureishi

My final audiobook of the week and it was such a beautifully written book. I know there’s a lot of controversy around it but I can’t deny the skill. I might have to go back and read a physical book to make notes.

  • Loki: A Bad God’s Guide To Being Good by Louie Stowell

My final audiobook of the week and it was such a beautifully written book. I know there’s a lot of controversy around it but I can’t deny the skill. I might have to go back and read a physical book to make notes.

Currently Reading

  • Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus

One of the ARCs that I’ve got to read this month and one that I’m super excited about. In fact, I’ve already ordered a physical copy. So far so good.

Book Haul

I made one big purchase this week. I had a birthday voucher from the Folio Society and I had to use it before the end of the month. I bought a copy of Around the World in 80 Days and it’s beautiful. A great addition to the collection.

Recently Watched

  • TV:
    • Modern Family – Still watching this again. I don’t know whether it’s an American/UK thing but I don’t find this show funny per se. It is sweet though and I like the characters.
