What have you been reading this week?
March is never the best reading month for me because it’s my birthday month. I tend to have busy weekends, which means less time for books. This year, I’ve also felt really rotten. I’ve self-diagnosed myself with Covid so many times because of how bad I feel. Thankfully, all of my lateral flow tests have been negative. If I can just get rid of this cold, I should be able to get back on track in April.
Weekly Blog Posts
- FILM REVIEW – West Side Story (2022)
I love a musical but I’m not exactly a huge West Side Story fan. It’s not the musical itself but I guess I’d be wary of anything based on Romeo and Juliet. But I had to check out Spielberg’s remake. Especially now it was on Disney+. Did it change my mind about the film? Check out my review to find out.
- BOOK REVIEW –Mother For Dinner by Shalom Auslander
Earlier this month, I asked my Instagram followers to pick my next book based on the opening line. This was the one they chose. I was excited to read it but picked it up at the start of my cold. Meaning progress was slow. I finally finished it this week. Check out my review to see how it was.
Just Read
- Mother For Dinner by Shalom Auslander
In order to finish this on time, I had to get the audiobook. I listened to the second half at work on Monday. I wish that I’d been able to read it all but it just wasn’t working out. It’s a shame because this book was so funny. I needed to read it when I was in a better frame of mind.
- Black Dogs by Ian McEwan
I didn’t post a review on Friday but I was planning on doing it. Although, I knew my current read was going to happen. So, I listened to this Ian McEwan audiobook on Friday. Not my favourite by the author but interesting.
Currently Reading
- Loki by Louie Stowell
I was very interested to see how this worked out. I love Norse mythology anyway and I love seeing how that is written for a younger audience. This one is mixing the myths with books like Diary of a Wimpy Kid, which seemed like a fun idea.
Book Haul
I think I’ve been quite good this week and not bought anything. I’m going to try and keep it going in April. Although, I have got a few pre-orders on the way. I don’t think they count.
Recently Watched
- TV:
- Modern Family – Still watching this again. I don’t know whether it’s an American/UK thing but I don’t find this show funny per se. It is sweet though and I like the characters.
Happy b-day month!
Feeling sick is just miserable isn’t it? Even if it’s not super bad, it still takes the edge of enjoyment off of everything. And if it is bad, then you can’t enjoy anything, period. Bleh. Hope you get better soonl

Thank you. I’m feeling much better now and have actually found the energy to read again. I’m hoping to have some time off this month to recharge my batteries. I can’t wait!
