What have you been reading this week?
Work is starting to get crazier but I’ve actually done more reading than normal this week. Well, until the end of the week but that’s okay. I have time. The point is, I didn’t struggle to finish a book to review on Friday so I actually managed to post 2 book reviews. This weekend feels like its been busy but I’ve had to try and get my photos for next week sorted out too. My friend just had her second baby and I’m going to see him next week. So, I’ve changes my priorities a bit. I think it’s only fair.
Weekly Blog Posts
- BOOK REVIEW – The Tattoo in the Tenets by Becky James
I won an ARC copy of this book last month but didn’t get around to it until the start of August. It was released last Monday and I wanted to make sure that I had the review up on time for that. After spending all of last Sunday reading, I managed to get it done. I’m not normally a big fan of YA fantasy but I really wanted to give this a try. Would it be as good as it sounded? Find out why by giving my review a quick read.
- TBT REVIEW – Ideal Home (2018)
Did I phone in this week’s TBT somewhat? Yeah but, in my defence, I was too busy reading to think about this. So I had to find something that I could watch and review in the same night. So, of course I went with the shortest thing that I could find. This happened to be recommended for my on Prime and I figured why not. I do love both Paul Rudd and Steve Coogan. Could it really be as bad as the concept sounded? If you’re feeling nostalgic, take a look at my review.
- BOOK REVIEW – The Appeal by Janice Hallett
When I started this book earlier in the week, I wasn’t sure that I’d finish it time. It’s been a while since I last read a 400 odd page book. I definitely saw this being a struggle and I didn’t even have the audiobook to fall back on. It wasn’t released until Thursday which would have been a bit tight for my review. Thankfully, I got through this in no time. But was that because it was really good or really bad? Read my review and you’ll find out.

- The Tenets in the Tattoos by Becky James
After I really didn’t get along with Brandon Sanderson a few years ago, I’ve always been a bit suspicious of picking up any YA fantasy. So, this was a bit of a change of pace for me. However, I went into it with high hopes and an open mind. Did it blow me away? Not completely but it was entertaining. I think there are things I would change but also bits that I really enjoyed.
- The Appeal by Janice Hallett
As soon as I finished this on Wednesday I gave it to my mother to read. We don’t often read the same books but occasionally something will come along that I know she’d love. This is one of those books that I think everyone can enjoy reading. It’s such a fun and immersive experience. If you’re in the middle of a reading slump, this could be just the book to bring you out of it.

- Summer Water by Sarah Moss
I’ll be honest, I expected to have finished this by now but I’m not worried about getting it done in time. This is only a short book and I’m really enjoying it. I just didn’t give myself the time to read at the end of the week. I really need to sort my schedule out so that I can optimise my time.
Book Haul
I’ve recently become aware of just how many pre-orders I’ve made recently. Turns out, many of them are being released next month. This means I’m trying extra hard to buy as few new books as possible. It’s going to be an expensive and book filled month in September. However, I’m pretty excited about all of them, so I don’t have many regrets!
