Sunday Rundown: That’s What She Read

Sunday Rundown
How has your week been? What have you been reading?

This week seems to have gone by in a bit of a blur. I can’t really remember what I’ve done. It’s like I’ve been sleepwalking through the days. I need a holiday but I don’t have anything booked for a while. I guess my first real break will be the Easter bank holidays. I should mark them off on my calendar so I have something to look forward to. Most people use bank holidays as a reason to drink for a whole weekend. Me? I’m looking forward to spending a whole day reading in bed and not feeling guilty for using up half a weekend. If the weekend is 4 days then that’s only a quarter and that’s perfectly fine.

Weekly Blog Posts

  • BOOK REVIEW – Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid

I really liked the sound of this book from the moment I heard about it. Then everyone started to rave about it. Normally, I’m suspicious of super hyped reads and am cautious about reading them. Still, I wanted to read this. It just took me a bit of time. I’m still not back to my reading best but I’m getting there. I’m just so tired at the moment. A few earlier nights will get me back on track. Read my review to see if this book is as good as everyone says.

  • TUESDAY REVIEW – Birds of Prey (2020)

This film was on my list of 2020 releases that I was looking forward to. I love Harley Quinn, I love Margot Robbie, and I love female superhero movies. Although, I was still wary about it. I’ve not got over the travesty that was Suicide Squad. Such an awful film despite how much potential it had. I went into this with an open mind but not expecting too much. Read my review to find out if it was better than I believed.

  • BOOKISH POST – King of the Stupid Tweets: We need to talk about Stephen

Instead of doing another book review this week, I wanted to talk about Stephen King’s recent Tweets. It’s something of a rant about how little the author seems to think about the consequences of his words. If you like to listen to a nobody randomly attack a well-known author then head over to my post.

  • THROWBACK THURSDAY – Justice League (2017)

Since I’d put myself on a DC train this week, I decided that it was finally time to finish watching Justice League. I’d started watching it last year but I didn’t get very far. I just couldn’t go on with it. Put I managed to power through and get to the end this time. If you’re also feeling a bit nostalgic then head over to my review.

  • FRIDAY FAVOURITES – Female Comic Book Characters

I decided to completely embrace the superhero theme of this week and incorporate International Women’s Day. Why not make a list of my favourite female comic book characters. Although, there are so many of them that I had to limit myself to a select few. Head over to my post to see them.

Currently Reading

  • Inside the Sun by Alexis Marie Chute

I’m still ploughing on with this one. Unfortunately, I’ve been exhausted this week so have only managed a couple of chapters a night. I plan on getting through this today and getting back to my normal reading speed. I’m excited to see how this turns out because I’m so invested in this story. Check out my reviews for the previous books to see why. Above the Star and Below the Moon are both worth a read.

Recently Purchased

I’m still trying to decide which books I want to buy with my birthday book vouchers. There are so many out there. Too many books too little time, eh?!

Recently Watched

  • TV:
    • Veep – I watched the final episode of Veep the day before it was announced that Tom Hanks had Corona Virus. Part of that episode is set in the future and it’s announced that Tom Hanks has died. When I saw he was being mentioned on social media I did get a bit worried.
  • Films
    • To busy to watch much this week. I barely had time to finish what I needed to watch.
