How has your week been? What have you been reading?
Today has been a weird day. For almost a year I’ve been suffering from alopecia and it’s slowly been getting worse over the past few months. So, today I finally bit the bullet and bought a wig. I was annoyingly terrified before I went. I had no idea what to expect and I was worried about it being too obviously fake. But I have a wedding coming up later this year and I was determined to get something to wear. My two sisters came with me for moral support and were absolutely fabulous. And I managed to find something that I really like. It’ll take time to get used to it but it feels good that I’ve made that step. It also makes me feel stupid for being so worried about it. But that’s me all over.

- CREATIVELY CONTENT – Week 3 #cs_mymomentwithflowers
This is the fourth week of my new series where I force you all to look at my pictures. This week’s Creatively Squared hashtag challenge was something right up my street. I bloody love flowers and enjoy putting them in my photos. It’s a bit expensive but fresh flowers really add some colour to a photo. And they really work with my preferred white background. So, I went a bit crazy this week. If you don’t already follow me on Instagram, check out my work here.
- TUESDAY REVIEW – Shazam! (2019)
I wasn’t sure what I would think about Shazam! I don’t tend to trust DC films at this point but there were a lot of things to get excited about. And it looked like DC were trying to pull a Marvel. It looked fun and silly. As if they were finally trying to stop taking themselves too seriously. But could it possibly be as good as it looked? To find out you can my review here.
- BOOK POST – Oh, Dany… Boy (Spoilers)
My current read has taken a bit longer to finish that I’d anticipated. I’ve been stuck in a bit of a rut. So, I knew I was never going to have a review for this week. But, thankfully, there has been a lot of outrage on the internet recently that I wanted to weigh in on. This season of Game of Thrones has been such a weird one. I mean there are thousands of people who have signed a petition to get it re-made. What the heck is wrong with people? So, I decided to set out my thoughts on the most recent “twist”. Check it out here.
- THROWBACK THURSDAY – Dumbo (1941)
What do you pick when you’re looking for a film to review in the same week as the latest DC superhero film? Well, for me there was only one choice. A DC film starring a comedy actor also starring Mark Strong. Doesn’t that sound familiar to you? Yeah, it was time to revisit one of the worst superhero films ever made. The film that embarrassed Ryan Reynolds more than X-Men Origins. Yep, it’s the big one. If you’re also feeling a bit nostalgic then you can click here to read my review.
- Machines Like Me by Ian McEwan
It’s been super slow going for the final part of the novel. I’m sure I’ll get it done tonight but I should have finished it sooner. It’s not even that long.
- Ill Will by Michael Stewart and Spy in the House of Love by Anais Nin
I’m still leaving these be because I’ve got to that point where I’m too afraid to go back to these books. When I say afraid, I probably just mean lazy but the thought of picking them up again is making me not want to read. And it’s not as if I wasn’t enjoying them. It’s just that I’ve read other things now. So, I’ve seen what else is out there.
I’m back to being good this week. I’ve recently gone a bit mental with book buying so it was important to take a break. Man, my TBR is getting out of control.
- TV Binges –30 Rock
Yep, I’ve moved on from Australian MasterChef and gone back to 30 Rock. It’s been ages since I last watched this and it’s still great. Tina Fey is a genius and Alec Baldwin is hilarious.
Who is Murdocal? A casual critic who is a little bit too obsessed with pop culture. A young woman who swears and rants much more than she knows she should whilst trying to make her way in an adult world she isn't prepared for. A not as recent as she'd like literature graduate who, between job applications and subsequent rejections, has turned to the internet to fight the boredom and review the shit out of everything.
