Sunday Rundown – That’s What She Read

books, films, rundown

How has your week been? What have you been reading?

It’s been a weird week this week and a long and tiring weekend. I should really be in bed but I got distracted again. Are these rundowns even worth it? I honestly don’t know if anyone enjoys them and they cause me so much sadness on a Sunday night. Maybe there’s a better use of my blogging time? I’ll have a think but, if there’s anyone actually reading this, let me know what you think? It’s always nice to have some actual conversations with people on here. And if it means I’m writing content people want to read then all the better.

  • TUESDAY’S REVIEWS – The Grinch (2018)

Yes, I know. The last thing you want to think about now is Christmas but I wasn’t going through the whole annoyance of seeing this film without moaning about it. So, it came to pass, that on the second Tuesday of January I reviewed the latest adaptation of The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. If, for some reason, you want to read about a totally inappropriate films, click here for my review.

  • BOOK REVIEW – Mythos by Stephen Fry

Second Wednesday in 2019 and my second book review. Fingers crossed I can keep this pace up all year. I highly doubt it but January is the time for kidding ourselves about this kind of thing. But for now, let’s just enjoy that I’m currently on a high and I’ve finished a book I’ve been meaning to read ever since it was released. To find out what I thought click here.

  • THROWBACK THURSDAY – Fantastic Mr Fox (2009)

Still slowly working my way through my earliest reviews and, thankfully, the second one was a much better film. An animation that I love adapted from a book I’ve loved since I was a child by a director I’ve loved for as long as I can remember. You get the idea. There’s a lot of love crammed into my review. Read it here.

  • The Dinner Guest by Gabriela Ybarra

This is another book that I’ve had on my shelf for a while. I wanted it as soon as it was put on the longlist for the Man Booker International prize. Of course, as with the majority of the Man Booker longlist nominees that I’ve bought over the year it didn’t make the shortlist but that didn’t mean I wasn’t going to read it. And now I’ve started and it’s just as good as I’d expected.

Still pretty sure I’m doing well as not buying books. I’ve been sorely tempted by so many sales but I’ve stayed strong… for now.

  • Netflix Binges – Bake Off,
Sometimes I don’t know why I watch TV. I’m so bored of it all at the moment. I’m just passively watching things I’ve seen too many times already. Maybe it’s a good idea to cancel Netflix for a bit? I might get more reading done and spend less time just ignoring the TV.
