I’m writing this the night before I go away with my family to Scotland. I’ve spent most of the night packing and repacking because I can never get it right. I’ve definitely still got too much stuff but, as you can’t trust the Scottish weather, it probably isn’t actually enough at all. Still, it’s too late to change my mind again so I’ll have to live with it. I’ve also just finished writing next week’s TBT post so I can officially say I’m ahead for my posts. I wasn’t entirely sure it would happen but I managed it. I feel quite proud but super tired. I’ve worked non-stop to get this done this week. Never again. Next time I’ll just take a week off. Now I definitely need a holiday!
Weekly Blog Posts
- TUESDAY’S REVIEWS – Hurricane Bianca (2016)
Watched to get myself psyched for seeing Bianca Del Rio in Manchester last week. With no other film to review I decided it was okay to go back a couple of years for this Tuesday review. Especially as I’ve been quite up-to-date (for me anyway) recently. Read more here.
- BOOKISH POST – Fantastic Beasts 2 Cast 2 Furious
A post with a title featuring a pun that I was super proud of until I posted it to my Instagram story. Turns out nobody else appreciates my Fast and Furious/Harry Potter puns. Still, if you want to hear a rant about JK Rowling, Johnny Depp, and the upcoming Fantastic Beasts film then click here.
- THROWBACK THIRTY – She’s Having a Baby (1988)
Another week another John Hughes movie. This time starring Kevin ‘all I want to do is dance’ Bacon. This time as a man unable to face his adult responsibilities. A super fitting film for a 30-year-old who still thinks she’s a 16-year-old. Check out my review here.
- The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
I started reading this in the hope that I would have it finished for my Wednesday’s post but I’ve been too busy for reading this week. Still, I’m enjoying this more than I expected so I’m carrying it on with it for now. I’ll take it away and see how it goes.
- The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson
Still enjoying but not reading as much now, obviously. Another holiday read that I hope to get further one with.
I’ve been far too busy to buy books this week. Thankfully. I’ve had holiday supplies to buy.
- Netflix Binges – OITNB, Final Space,
Finished the 5th season of OITNB before the 6th came out today. I’ve watched about 4 episodes of the new one and I’m already obsessed. The first episode was brilliant. I love all of Suzanne’s weird fantasies. I also managed to finish the 5th season with enough time to fit in a quick watch of Final Space and it’s safe to say I’m equally obsessed. It’s like Rick and Morty meets Star Trek and I love it. A guy at worked dismissed it early on because, and I quote, “it looked like a rip off Rick and Morty“. I can’t even begin to tell you how much that little statement angered me. For fuck’s sake. If you haven’t seen it then do it. You won’t regret it.
Who is Murdocal? A casual critic who is a little bit too obsessed with pop culture. A young woman who swears and rants much more than she knows she should whilst trying to make her way in an adult world she isn't prepared for. A not as recent as she'd like literature graduate who, between job applications and subsequent rejections, has turned to the internet to fight the boredom and review the shit out of everything.
"Maybe, just maybe, I'm the faller. Every family has someone who falls, who doesn't make the grade, who stumbles, who life trips up. Maybe I'm our faller."
