Someday Rundown: That’s What She Read

img_4240

Another rough work weekend is behind me and I have one more day to get through before I have two days off. I need them and I’ve only been in for 3 days. I’m not in a great place work wise but I think I’m finally out of my slump. I’ve been really loving reading at the moment and, thanks to a surprise Netflix slump, have been spending more time on my current reads. Hopefully this year is turning around for me in one area at least.

Weekly Blog Posts

  • TUESDAY’S REVIEWS –  Game Night (2018)

Oh Jason Bateman. How do you manage to get me to watch so much shit? Over the years I’ve optimistically watched so many mediocre comedies wishing to see a film worthy of your skills as a performer (at least since Teen Wolf Too anyway). It’s not happened so far but was this the film to do it? Find out here.

  • BOOK REVIEW – Jurassic Park book tag

I had a busy week off last week so I hadn’t quite finished my current read in time for a review. Instead, straight after watching Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom I decided to do this Jurassic Park themed book tag. If you’re interested to find out what my favourite dinosaur is then find out by clicking here.

  • THROWBACK THIRTY – Bloodsport (1988)

In which I indulge my love of terrible sports films. It’s been 30 years since this film helped kickstart Jean-Claude Van Damme’s career and nearly earn him a Golden Raspberry. So has it aged badly? Check out my review here.

Just Finished

  • Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero

It didn’t really matter how good or bad this book was because I was so bloody happy it took me just over a week to finish. It hopefully means I’ve got over the worst of my reading slump so I can finally get back to reducing the size of my TBR. Check back on Wednesday to read my review of Meddling Kids.

Currently Reading

  • White Houses by Amy Bloom

I was supposed to start The Goldfinch this month as I mentioned in one of my latest bookish posts. However, I watched an emotional London pride advert and decided I needed to read something more appropriate. So I started reading one of my Most Anticipated Books of 2018 as soon as I’d finished Meddling Kids. Well, until…

  • Less by Andrew Sean Greer
I’ve been intrigued by this Pulitzer Prize winning novel for a while and, on a whim one lunchtime, I had a massive urge to read it. Thankfully, my local bookshop had one copy and I’ve been immersed in this story. It’s such a good read and I can’t wait to finish it.

Recently Purchased

As mentioned above, I did make one bookish purchase this week when I was desperate to read Less. I don’t even care that I paid full price instead of waiting for Amazon. It’s that good. I’m actually looking forward to going to bed early so I can read more.

Recently Watched

  • Netflix Binges – Project Runway, The Great Interior Design Challenge

I’ve been getting a bit tired of Netflix right now so I’m not really interested in anything. I spend more time scrolling through things I’m not in the mood for than I do watching things. So I’ve resigned myself to watch background shows. You know, the kind of shit that isn’t very exciting but is so easy to watch whilst your busy. It’s the stuff I watch in a morning when I’m getting ready. I need the noise but I don’t want to get drawn in.

  • Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

I managed to catch this during my time off and I have very mixed feelings about it. Mostly I just want more Goldblum. I’ll save all further discussion for my review on Tuesday.
