Sunday Rundown – That’s What She Read

img_4240

Boy, has it been hot this week. Don’t get me wrong, after all the miserable weather we’ve had lately it’s been nice to see the sun. My only issue is that it’s bloody hot in the kitchen. I’d forgotten how tough it can be when it gets warmer. It just makes me look forward to Summer even less that I already do. On the plus side, I embraced my inner photographer and took a buttload of pictures after work one day. I’m irritating all of my friends and coworkers by posting them to my personal Instagram account one at a time but I don’t know what else to do with them. It seems silly to have them and not share them. And it seems too late to post them all in one go. We’ll see. Also, on a surprisingly positive note, I’ve finally finished one of the books I’m currently reading and have already made more progress in the other. It’s like I’m a new woman… it won’t last.

Weekly Blog Posts

  • TUESDAY’S REVIEWS   A Stupid and Futile Gesture (2018)

Another Tuesday and another Netflix original film. I sort of feel like it’s a cop-out to review these but, at the same time, feel as though we should treat them the same as any other film. Still, it does feel like an easier option to review something that is so accessible. Still, it meant I had sometime to say this week. To find out what that was, click here.

  • POETRY REVIEW – Depression & Other Magic Tricks by Sabrina Benaim

I managed to get a bookish post up this week and, in honour of America’s National Poetry Month, I decided to go all poetic on you all. I recently read this collection and had some mixed feelings about it. Find out more by reading my review here.

  • THROWBACK THIRTY – Masquerade (1988)

Another week and another last-minute selection for my TBT piece. Again, I was left with no time so was trawling through Netflix desperate to find something short and from 1988. Thankfully, this Rob Lowe gem came my way. To find out more click here.

Just Read

  • Above the Star by Alexis Marie Chute

I finished this towards the end of the week after staying up way too late on a school night. But I was so engrossed with the ending that I couldn’t stop. Now I’m desperate to carry on. Come back on Tuesday for a proper review.

Currently Reading

  • Frankenstein in Baghdad by Ahmed Saadawi

This book is finally off the bench and back in play. It took me a little while to pick up from where I left off because I needed to remind myself of who everyone was but I think I’m there now. I’m not much further on but I’m so excited by this that I’m hopefully going to rush through it.

Recently Purchased

Unless I’m very much mistaken I think I’ve only bought one book this week. I realise that to normal people that’s probably a lot for one week but, for me, that shows a great deal of restraint.

  • Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng – It was super cheap and I couldn’t resist. I loved Everything I Never Told You and have been eyeing this up for a while.

Recently Watched

  • Netflix Binges – French and Saunders

I don’t feel like I’ve watched a great deal of television this week. I have religiously watched most of the entire show by now. I think I’m just starting the last series now. I love the show and think they are two of the funniest people ever. Also, fun fact I’ve learnt, Edgar Wright directed part of their Titanic parody. I feel like that’s something everyone probably knows but I only realise when it came up on the credits. It’s kind of blown my mind a bit.
