This week has been a bit of a bust. I haven’t watched anything exciting and my reading has been pretty patchy. I’ve also been pretty restrained in terms of buying. I’m still very much on my graphic novel run and have managed to prevent myself from buying the crazily expensive hardback copy of The Heart by Maylis de Kerangal despite really really wanting to buy it. It doesn’t make for a very interesting post but my bank balance is probably quite grateful. There’s no denying that I’m pretty much just going through the motions right now. I’ll try and make it more interesting next week.
- 13 Ways of Looking at a Fat Girl by Mona Awad
Still going with this. I feel like I’m in a bit of a slump again and haven’t been reading as much. Still, this is a genuinely wonderful book and, every time I do get round to reading it, I’m hooked.
- Adventures in Human Being by Gavin Francise
Dipping in and out of this one sporadically because it’s a fascinating read. I wish I had a greater grasp of science.
- Outsiders/Checkmate: Checkout by Greg Rucka et al.
Yep, still madly buying any Checkmate literature that I can. I’m kind of obsessed. You’ll realise that as this post continues.
- Checkmate Vol 02 Pawn Breaks by Greg Rucka et al.
See what I mean.
- Checkmate Vol 03 The Fall Of The Wall by Greg Rucka et al.
Final one this week. I promise.
- Maestra by L.S Hilton
So I saw this on offer and was tempted by the amazing cover. I have to stop allowing myself to be taken in by these shitty psychological thrillers. Although, I cant be sure until I start reading it that it’ll be shit but it’s being hailed as the new The Girl on the Train which you may remember that I found super disappointing. We’ll see how it goes but I imagine this is another time where I badly misjudged a book based on its cover.
